Hi, my name is Rhett Smith, and I’m a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and Board Certified Coach.

Helping people find the courage to face their anxiety so that they can transform their relationship to self and with others.

I believe that every struggle we face is an opportunity for growth, and I would love to be your guide on this journey so that you can navigate
it confidently and successfully.

Experience

  • What started in a home has blossomed over the years and I have had the opportunity to provide college and career counseling in my role as an admissions counselor at Grand Canyon University, to later completing a Master of Divinity and doing intense pastoral work and counseling in my role as the college pastor at Bel Air Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles and on the campuses at UCLA, USC and LMU. That love of helping others through counseling led me to return to grad school at 30 to pursue a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy as I realized that what I do best is being with people and helping them make sense of their life and equip them with knowledge and skills to make powerful change.

Over the years I have been impacted by my work in community mental health in Los Angeles and Dallas, leading marriage intensive work at The Hideaway Experience outside Amarillo, and the many adventures overseas doing community mental health work in countries like Guatemala, Mexico, Brazil, India and others. Today I am most energized by being able to provide great therapy to my clients in my private practice, as well as providing great executive and leadership coaching to my corporate clients, whom from the beginning I have been lucky enough to do work with organizations like Marriott, Hilton, Highland Park Presbyterian, and Chick Fil A.

When not providing therapy and executive coaching to clients I am passionate about helping others grow, and have found outlets over the years teaching and equipping leaders about anxiety and depression as part of collaborative leadership consortium with Pepperdine University, Azusa Pacific and Fuller Theological Seminary. I enjoy teaching and speaking in many organizations from universities, churches and corporations, while continuing to hone my own therapeutic and coaching growth and expertise by participating in the Restoration Therapy community which I have been a part of since 2010 and where I helped develop the Restoration Therapy anxiety intensive model,Turning from Anxiety.

I love exploring and the growth that comes from it, and I love opening my client’s eyes to all the growth opportunities in their lives. In the meantime you will probably find me outdoors exploring trails and running ultra-distance races from 50K to 100-mile, and bucket list adventures like the Rim to Rim to Rim at the Grand Canyon. And when I’m not outdoors exploring the trails with friends and family, you will probably find my nose in a book learning, or my hands on the keyboard typing what I hope will be another book.
