Thanks for the transparency and honest struggles you have had trying to do private practice. May God grant you strength as you counsel others and build new relationships in the area.

Great stuff buddy, really cool to hear the process you went thru. The simple idea that God is leading us is amazing, hard to trust at times, but comforting in the madness. My wife and I are about to embark on a new journey too and are excited but at the same time scared.

Sam,

Thanks for stopping by...man, I wish I had had a chance to meet you in Chicago, but glad you and Drew got to hang out. Maybe another time.

Thanks for the encouragement.

I've been realizing how much I want to have everything answered right now, and I especially feel the pressure more as a father and husband. I feel more responsibility, and less room for error or failure. That is my own issue, as my wife has been an awesome partner along this journey and helped me step out more when I haven't wanted to. But the fear of failure is still there.

I've been trying to think in terms of baby steps just like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day....haaa. But I have tried to take the pressure off of feeling that I have to know everything now, or that my career that I want to settle in to has to be decided already. I've been trying to think of everything I do as just another experienced to grow and learn, and another chance to add to my well of knowledge, wisdom and discernment that I will continue to draw from my whole life.

I like to think of the psalmist talking about a lamp to guide the path, http://bible.cc/psalms/119-105.htm. A lamp only gives so much light...basically the steps right ahead of us, not down the road. So I try to focus on the steps ahead of me...the transitions right ahead of me, and not where I need to be in 10 years. I still try and plan for the future obviously, but I'm more willing to allow for u-turns and side detours then I was before.

How is your transition going?

Rhett - great explanation on the "how come" of where your journey is taking you... I sense there was a lot of stepping out in faith for you over the last 7 months, how did you wrestle with the tension of those steps of faith?

My transition up to Iowa has been a good one, but there are difficulties and struggles, especially in the area of career! Man, sometimes I wish God didn't lead me... as He always seems to give me a direction without much else! But again, my faith must be in him and his direction... no matter how lost I think I am.

Good stuff, looking forward to how God will lead you at HopeWorks.
